Pregame Notes: Red Wings @ Sharks - Game Seven

What do you want me to say at this point?

Either the Red Wings make history tonight or the Sharks recover and advance themselves. The previous six games don't matter, we're down to one now.

On the Detroit side, you say you have the advantage, riding the win streak. On the San Jose side, home ice is your advantage.

As per usual, keys for both teams are the same. Score early. Score often. Don't get down if the other team scores first. Don't take stupid penalties.

Game time is 9:00. Television is FSD in Detroit, Versus everywhere else in the US.

Keating says Franzen is out and Draper is in. Not sure if that means Draper in for Franzen rather than Modano or Draper in for someone else (Hudler?).

Don't think we have word on Clowe yet.

Edit: Draper is in for Modano, according to update from Keating.

Edit 2: Clowe is in for the Sharks.

Nothing... Just keep your fingers crossed.I just found a case of Labatt Blue (no longer shipped to Socal) so I am thinking that is a good sign however, I'm not saying anything.

Okay, I avoided nerves earlier by a fit of cleaning. No helping things now.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 9:07 PM

Karen Newman is way better

Posted by SYfanSD on 5/12/2011 at 9:10 PM

Look at Raffi... Proud AMERICAN!

Ok... Game Seven... Here we go!

Posted by SYfanSD on 5/12/2011 at 9:13 PM

What the hell was that?

Posted by SYfanSD on 5/12/2011 at 9:15 PM

Good pressure on Clowe.

Posted by SYfanSD on 5/12/2011 at 9:19 PM

Wow! You have Zetterberg playing like Datsyuk and Dats trying to hit like Kronner... Amazing

Posted by SYfanSD on 5/12/2011 at 9:22 PM

Wings looked good first 10 minutes. Looks like there slowing down a bit.

Posted by DetroitRiver on 5/12/2011 at 9:33 PM

Dammit, Johnny.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 9:34 PM

Waste of that fantastic stop by Jimmy.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 9:36 PM

Get off our f*cking goalie!

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 9:37 PM

Rest of the team might not be, but Jimmy is on.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 9:40 PM

They're getting ahead of us on the play. Need some more jump.

Posted by DetroitRiver on 5/12/2011 at 9:43 PM

Zetterberg giveaway. That's rare.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 9:49 PM

Bad turn-over by Z. Starting to look like the first three games...

Posted by DetroitRiver on 5/12/2011 at 9:49 PM

Question: Was the 1st a result of the Wings coming out slow or the Sharks turning it up a notch? Or both?

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 9:51 PM

Bert stays out. Sweet.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 10:07 PM

Wings want that Kronner shot, finally got it but Niemi was there this time.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 10:18 PM

How did we not score on that?

Posted by DetroitRiver on 5/12/2011 at 10:30 PM

There's one!

Posted by DetroitRiver on 5/12/2011 at 10:32 PM

Great play by that entire line. Zata is on fire.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 10:32 PM

Dammit, why is everyone getting hurt?

Posted by Mathieu_Datsyuk132351 on 5/12/2011 at 10:35 PM

Hudler hasn't hit an opponent as hard as he just hit Cleary. The f*ck?

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 10:35 PM

Aw crap! We can't loose Clears. He's finally suppossed to get his empty netter tonight.

Posted by DetroitRiver on 5/12/2011 at 10:36 PM

Much better period for the Wings. More of this, please.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 10:49 PM

It's now or never...

Posted by DetroitRiver on 5/12/2011 at 11:16 PM

Kronner should have cross-checked him, that'd've been fine.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 11:22 PM

That was a BS call..

Kroner was going for the puck...

Posted by DetroitRiver on 5/12/2011 at 11:22 PM

Thank you Huddler for taking out Cleary. Your biggest accomplishment of the season.

Posted by DetroitRiver on 5/12/2011 at 11:27 PM

Setoguchi on top of Howard when that went in. Just saying.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 11:28 PM

Jesus, still alive.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 11:30 PM

Thank you Pasha!

Posted by DetroitRiver on 5/12/2011 at 11:31 PM

Horrible call, just like the one a few minutes ago. Finally consistency, I guess.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 11:32 PM

Can we have at one decent power play?

Posted by DetroitRiver on 5/12/2011 at 11:35 PM

So proud of this team, so p*ssed that that third goal is what did them in.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 11:44 PM

Marleau scoring that goal makes me hate him even more.

As much as it sucked to see them win after the awesome come back, I think the Wings did awesome to even stick it out this far. Now time to cheer on the Canucks <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.png" />

Also Pavel's goal was awesome.

Posted by Mathieu_Datsyuk132351 on 5/12/2011 at 11:45 PM

It was good try but fate again favored the other team. Loosing both Bert and Cleary in this game was unthinkable. Funny how luck seems to continuously favor the shards.

GO WINGS GO!!!

GO NUCKS GO!!!

Posted by DetroitRiver on 5/12/2011 at 11:45 PM

You guys cheer for who you want, I'm done. No "second team" for me.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 5/12/2011 at 11:47 PM

The only problem I have with this game is that Marleau scored and everyone on Hockey this morning was all over it. Marleau was absent this entire series having scored zero point prior to last night and for the most part, was a non-factor.

I echo Clark's opinion of the goal that was scored with Setoguchi in the crease as that has been the bain of our existence for the entire season and the very type of play that has cost the Wings several goals.

I know this is the last we will see of Modano however, will the same be said for Nick? Will we finally get rid of Hudler? I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting summer.

Posted by SYfanSD on 5/13/2011 at 10:41 AM

Will we finally get rid of Hudler?

I hope so. I remember I didn't want to see him go originally but I did not like the Wings bringing him back. It's going to be difficult to force myself to watch the conference finals now.

Shouldn't we all be cheering for Tampa Bay? It is Stevie's team... I'm just sayin

Posted by SYfanSD on 5/15/2011 at 8:28 PM

I know some of us don't pay much attention to hockey once the Wings are out of it, but I've been drawn to the games (like watching a train wreck?) in spite of myself. Yes, seeing Steve Yzerman succeed at the managerial level is gratifying...wish him success always. On the other hand, if San Jose won the whole thing, the Wings could be assured that they are "that close" to another Cup themselves. However, watching last night's Shark meltdown (a complete loss of composure)was gratifying, too...kinda reinforces belief that they just don't have what it takes mentally to be winners. Then, too, the Sendins have taken so much crap over the years that watching them succeed and advance would also be good for the game, in my opinion (and Ryan Kesler is a local guy...yeah Hockeytown)....The Tim Thomas story is compelling, too. And Dwayne Roloson...he deserves to have his name on the Cup. It's not hard to find reasons to watch (is what I'm trying to say)....

Make that "Sedins"....Hate it when that happens....
