Before Tomas Holmstrom tipped Nicklas Lidstrom's shot past Antti Niemi to give the Red Wings a 4-3 lead over the Sharks tonight, I said, "Even if the Wings lose this one, they did something that'll matter in the next round: They drew blood."
In this series, San Jose has looked nearly invincible. Even Detroit's Game Four win included a three-goal comeback by the Sharks. Tonight, it was the Wings making the comeback, rallying from down two in the third period to get the win and force Game Six at Joe Louis Arena on Tuesday.
The Red Wings didn't play their best game by any means. They might not have even played a better game than the Sharks. They ground this one out, though, finding the gaps in the Sharks' play and making things happen out of nothing.
Dan Cleary's game tying goal? All about not giving up on a loose puck at the side of the net.
The game winner? Holy hell, what more could Pavel Datsyuk do to set that one up? And his wrist is supposed to be hurt? One of three assists on the night.
Jimmy Howard. Thirty-nine saves. He's the reason the Wings had a chance to win in the first place.
The series just got interesting. If you subscribe to the "hold serve at home" theory, this was supposed to be at 3-2 headed back to Detroit for Game Six. For all intents and purposes, the fact that the Wings dropped the first three games is moot at this point.
Tuesday will bring new challenges but this weekend the Wings did everything they had to in making up lost ground.
Oh, sweet, now both Datsyuk and Franzen are game-time decisions. My guess... Pavs is in, Mule is out.
That was a good scoring chance there.
BTW, this new site design is heavy. Takes way too long to load.

The background is throwing me off, hahaha. Not important, but it's something I don't like (and my opinion is super important
)
Why are all of these penalties so sucky?
ed;; Ahahahaha the profile status thing is probably a bad idea for me and my nonsense, but I do have to say I'm excited to make a fool of myself.
First chance I've gotten to comment. Wings doing a decent job of surviving (only goal against on a deflection) but that's not going to be enough. Have to think they'll get a power play soon, momentum could shift.
Well, you saw that coming. The get one goal every period; like clockwork.
Wonder if our lazy europeans can wake up?
Maybe it's because I don't expect the Wings to win this series, but I'm not worried going into the third.
Using the intermission to talk about the new forum software...

Agreed that it's a bit heavy but I'm not seeing load time issues. I'll keep poking around, part of it is because it's not done yet.

There shouldn't be a different background than there used to be. What are you seeing?

I think that was there before but not as prominent. Always looking for better ways to let people make fools of themselves.

It looks alright but once you scroll on the page the background is all red, the white stays at the top and is lost. I don't know if that's a good description? I can take some screenshots if needed. Also I noticed it does this on a different computer, too. It could be firefox or something.
Gutsy win. Love it.
Shameless promotion: Wings winless this round when I wore jerseys, unbeaten when I wear DetroitHockey.Net shirts. Get shopping, people. ![]()
After SJ scored their 3rd goal, I turned off the tv (it's not so much that I gave up, it's more that I hate to see the Wings defeated), cleaned up the kitchen, gave the dog her Benadryl and headed to bed. Once in the bedroom, I turned on the tv there to discover that THE WINGS HAD FRIGGING TIED THE GAME! I turned off the volume to watch the rest of it (cannot stand those Versus announcers...tonight SJ was walking on water and performing miracles), and yes, that was a very satisfying outcome. And SJ is mortal, just like the rest of us.
You can buy DHN shirts? How?

And SJ is mortal, just like the rest of us.
I'll be blogging on that point shortly.
