It's after one in the morning, some ungodly hour at which hockey has no right being played. Niklas Kronwall went out with a mysterious "tweak" of some kind. None of that matters 'cause that was one of the best games the Wings have played all year.
I'll admit, I was ready to quit when the Wings went down 2-0. These late games just make it too tough to watch when Detroit is getting beat to hell. But the Red Wings didn't quit, they rallied before the first period was over and pretty much dominated the rest of the game en route to their 4-2 game.
It was a game the Wings could have quit on but they didn't and it got them an important pair of points in the standings.
The Wings kick off the West Coast part of their five-game road trip with a late start in San Jose. FSN Detroit has the game at 10:30.
Tomas Holmstrom will make his return from injury, pushing Brad May out of the lineup. This leaves Johan Franzen as the last injured Red Wings forward and he's scheduled back next week in St. Louis. Given the cap issues the Wings now have (which I admittedly don't entirely understand since Franzen's been off the cap all season and the players the Wings have added don't add up to his cap hit), one or more of the players currently on the roster may not return to Detroit when the trip is over.
On the blue line, Jonathan Ericsson will be a healthy scratch for the first time this season. This puts both Brett Lebda and Derek Meech back in the lineup. One of those two could also be moved soon, as Andreas Lilja began his rehab stint with the Grand Rapids Griffins today and will play for them in Rockford tomorrow night.
MD, I see you reading, shouldn't you have school or something in the morning? Not that it ever stopped me when I was your age, back in the day.

Sssssh, don't blow my cover now!
Nah, I took a nap so I could stay up! Who needs education, anyways? ![]()
A formal education is grossly overrated.
Addendum: Hockey teaches all sorts of real-world skills. Like foreign languages.
Meech: "I dare you to trade me. Get rid of that Lebda bastard."
If only he would say that! Lebda needs to go!
It seems like the Wings always take over the game in the 3rd period against the Sharks, or it at least feels that way to me.

Well there's still time to blow it but I'm liking things so far.
I'm so conflicted.
Detroit won, but that pushes Anaheim back a bit.
Although I am glad the Sharks lost tonight. ![]()

You've gotta let us convince you to get rid of that pesky allegience to Anaheim and then this wouldn't be an issue. ![]()

Pesky allegiance?
How so? They're the hometown boys. Though sadly, we probably won't make the playoffs this season. Unless miracles happen in Anaheim.
