I was ready to write about how the Red Wings played about as good of a game as you could expect in a 1-0 loss and then I saw that Dan Cleary suffered an "upper body injury" late in tonight's game.
Of course he did. That's how the Wings do it this year. It's either a soul-crushing blowout, something controversial, or someone got hurt. Their last seven regulation losses, in reverse chronological order:
12/9 - Cleary hurt in 1-0 loss to St. Louis.
12/3 - 4-1 loss to Edmonton in which the Wings has nothing going.
11/27 - Shutout by Calgary, two goals called back
11/25 - Shutout by Atlanta
11/23 - 3-1 loss to Nashville. This one might not fit those three categories.
11/18 - 3-1 loss to Dallas. Brad May's "no goal."
11/7 - 5-1 loss in Toronto. A blowout in which Jason Williams was hurt.
Unless you count the Nashville game, which I don't but I recognize some would, every single one of those has something about it that twists the knife in just the right way to make you forget about anything good from the game.
Jimmy Howard gets another start and Ville Leino stays in the press box. So the lineup is the same as Sunday. Here's hoping the result is as well.
Kudos to Mickey Redmond for the "Who's on First" reference
That's all I've really seen of the game so far, haha. But it doesn't look like I missed much?
I don't want to seem like there's a bias against the Wings, but it seems like this is happening way too often for it to just be coincidence. In the few games that I've watched where the Wings were not playing, nothing like this ever happens.
It almost seems as though they've been blacklisted ![]()

I know I'm definitely not the first to say this, and not the last, but I just think it's silly. Maybe we should start tallying how many times each team gets screwed over per game? Hahaha.
At what point does ken holland realize that this team can't score. In my opinion he hasn't done enough to counter this problem. Trade for something.................at least let us know you're trying, I mean the coach is double shifting top line and still gets 0 goals. Hello? anyone there? Three times shutout at home in a span of like 2 weeks. Wings get shutout once a year if that on average. Scoring needed, don't let these great games for Howard go wasted.
