I was trying to figure out where I recognized the feeling of last night's game from and I think I've finally got it: Game Six of the 2007 Western Conference Finals.
It's that same kind of feeling of "if only X had happened." It's the feeling of a game that could have gone differently had there just been five more minutes on the clock.
The Wings took too long to get going. They had their chances but needed more and they didn't get it.
If Henrik Zetterberg scores in the first period, Dan Cleary puts the puck five hole in the last two minutes, or Johan Franzen roofs the puck in the closing seconds, we're talking about something completely different. But none of that happened.
It doesn't make sense but I feel both terrified and confident going into Game Seven. Terrified because anything can happen, confident because the only times the Wings have lost are when they haven't played a full game.

LETS GO PENGUINS!!!!
You seem to be a little lost...![]()
I hope there's more domination tonight!
-----------
Will Fleury be starting tonight?
Will Fleury be starting tonight?
Of course. They'd be insane to go with Garon.
Only change is Satan out for Sykora.
I dunno, last game kinda proved otherwise
But I guess that could have been a fluke...
And Miro is out? Darn it! ): Oh well.

Okay, they'd be insane to start Garon. I'd be totally cool with them having to go to him later. ![]()
Let's Go Red Vings!
Gotta love Europeans!
Haha. I don't know that he'll ever live that down.
The crowd is pretty wild tonight.
You know what? Only three shots but I'm going to call that a good period for the Wings. Missed a couple chances, really solid defense, killed off two power plays. Coming out of that period tied is not a bad deal. Gotta be stronger as the game goes on, though.
Outshot 12 to f*cking 3? Are you serious? More offense!!!!!!! ![]()
Although, the PK came out on top, which is a major plus in our case. Just bring me the Cup gentlemen... Bring me the Cup!
The Pens were stronger during the first part of the period, but the wings got stronger as time went on.
(As John Elway used to say in games against Cleveland in the playoffs when starting a series of downs from his own end zone...I think) "We've got 'em right where we want 'em!" Let's win this in the third. (Can't be that hard, can it?)
no penalties?....
PP's should be at least be even at this point though i'm not surprised at where we are..what are they waiting for?? Ozzie has saved us numerous times but not even a handful of flurrie's in their zone and the Hank post unbelievable!!!!!
I was just reminded of this song.

Oh god, I loves me some 80s cartoons ![]()
The only reason why we are not being smoked at this point is Ozzie. Period! Did we just get out of bed? Those were two of the slowest periods that I have seen during the entire playoffs. And someone please tell me what the hell is wrong with the refs? There should have been two calls for interference; I don't know what game they are watching. One should have been for the hit on Dats and the other one for the interference on Raffy; he didn't even touch the puck!
On another note; I understand that the league wants to market the game. In order to do that you need marketable players, got it, but why this constant love affair with Geni and Cindy? Even during game five all you seem to hear about is those two. Despite the fact that I am a Wings fan to the core, I would much rather watch a player like Dats stick handle through the defense. He doesn't even need to score. He is very interesting to watch because he has so much Hockey sense. I would much rather see that then one of the other two get some lucky bounce.
One last thing, I expect regional sportscasters to be biased towards the home team. I understand that is part of their job. I am getting sick and tired of the NBC guys leaning towards the Pens. They are supposed to be as neutral as possible but they keep going back to Geni and Cindy. Even for stupid sh*t questions. The one major thing the Wings have going for them is that the entire team has stepped up and some point and contributed to the win.
You take away the two leading scorers for the Pens and they don't have anyone left that they could depend on. You can make a small case for someone like Staal or even Guerin however, neither one has produced a whole lot in terms of points.
Ok... Now that I have all of that off of my chest I am ready for an outstanding third period. Go Wings!!!! Bring the Cup home!!!!!

We are waiting for the second half of the 3rd, because, if we tie or lead, we will be penalized like we were in the 1st(the NHL has commited to making this 7 games.) Babcock knows we can win this if we don't leave this in the hands of the officials. He knows we will be thrown out the face-off, so he's got Zett coming in as the the replacement now. Brilliant coaching, we have a chance, despite what the NHL wants.
What happened to ethics, and talent, greed ate it.

I agree with ya, except that NBC has actually pointed out 2 bad penaltys on the Wings, doe's the NHL think were all that stupid?
I'm gonna say this once. Lidstrom had a stick between his legs, couldn't clear, and the puck ends up in the net.
If I didn't care SO MUCH, this would be a joke. We've had some chances...so that's something to hang a hat on....And they've come back from deeper deficits....
