Happy St. Patrick's Day to those of you sober enough to be reading this.
I'm coming at you from hazy but warm Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where I'm amazed to find that I'm in a hotel that actually gets Versus so I'll be able to watch the game tonight. If I can get a better Internet setup going, I'll even be in on the gameday thread.
Also in: Chris Osgood. He'll be making his third start in a row after smacking around the Blues and Blue Jackets over the weekend. From the sound of things, he'll be given every chance to prove he should be the playoff starter.
Questionable for the game is Valtteri Filppula, who also missed Sunday's game in Columbus.
Does it count that I'm sober? P: How's the beach? IT'S ACTUALLY WARM UP NORTH.
I am happy, I think besides Montreal the Flyers are my favorite Eastern team. + It's a different team for a change! I hope Filppula makes it in tonight. And now, I leave.
Happy St. Pat's everyone.
I knew people at your age who would not have been sober, so I say it counts.
It may be warm up there but do you have an ocean out your window? I think not.
Actually, I don't even care about the ocean but this isn't my part of the trip.
Confirming that I now have better Internet access and will be around for the GDT.
Scott Hartnell says the way for the Flyers to beat the Wings is to be physical with Datsyuk and Zetterberg. 'Cause that's worked so well for every other team in the league.
Out to the beach I go...
The Detroit News confirms that Valtteri Filppula is out tonight but may return on Friday in Atlanta.
Tomas Holmstrom is also out, having strained his knee late in the game Sunday.
Derek Meech and Brett Lebda both practiced at forward to fill the open roster spots.
So it's gonna be one of those games. Whistle blows, punches thrown. And if the refs keep calling both players it won't stop.
Edit: They sent Sammy to the box but then didn't give him a penalty? Weird.
I agree, Biron is good. Too many penalties.
Congrats to Draper! Man, he's getting up there.

Does the 1000th game include playoffs, or is it just regular season? We're having a spat about it.
I thought I was hallucinating for a second there. What, New Jersey just won the Stanley Cup? Oh, no, it just seemed like it.
I'll get back to my NHL 09 OTP references now.
Brodeur's clearly a 99er.
That is not the Irish Jig, the official name is 'Irish Washerwoman'. Or something around that. It's a popular Canadian / Irish fiddle tune, which I've heard my fair share of. Popular with the older folks.
Datsyuk and Franzen again. BAMF.
Now Zetterberg. This is getting more bedazzling each second. The same song...again. I hope they never play on St. Pat's again.

Are you not old enough to remember that being played for Brendan Shanahan every time he scored? They called it the Irish Jig then, whatever it may officially be called.

I'm plenty old enough, I went on a hiatus from hockey when my brother graduated from high school in the early 00's, though. ![]()
Just saying. Coming from a fiddle player, that's the official name ![]()
