The Red Wings look to bounce back from their awful loss to Nashville last Saturday. I never saw it so I'm going from others' accounts and the final score in calling it awful, as far as I'm concerned it never happened.
Chris Osgood gets the start for Detroit. Former Wing Manny Legace isn't even with the Blues anymore, he'll be hanging out with AHL Peoria. I guess that means Chris Mason gets the start for St. Louis.
Aaron Downey makes his secon appearance of the season with Detroit, alongside fellow call-up Jonathan Ericsson. Ericsson takes Andreas Lilja's spot on defense while Lilja stays in Detroit nursing injuries suffered in Nashville.
Brett Lebda also returns to the Detroit lineup, taking Derek Meech's spot on the blueline.
Unlike the Coyotes, Islanders, Maple Leafs, and seemingly a slew of other teams, neither the Wings nor the Blues are expected to sit any players in anticipation of trades tonight.
I feel that Detroit is obligated to win because I have exams tomorrow and missed the last two games ![]()
=\ Crapcrapcrap. Hossa is hurt.
And Hossa's down. EMS is out there, very bad.
Edit: And I'm gonna call Murphy a dumbass here. That was not a follow-through, the defender reached out after Hossa got rid of the puck.
FSN guys say it's precautionary and he never lost consciousness. Very good to hear.
Osgood with a big stop on the shorthanded two-on-one that never should have happened.
Downey and Jansen(sp?) are in a fight :c Exciting and a very long fight!
I wonder why it's so entertaining to watch people beat each other up?
Call me boring or whatever but that fight didn't need to happen. Looked cool but if we're gonna have planned fights we might as well watch boxing.
Two people hurt on one play! Ay curumba! At least Kopecky's was just a cut.
____
Bedazzling goal by Kopecky
1-0 Wings.
Definitely good to know that Big Hoss is relatively okay. Any time he misses is important but if he stayed awake and was talking to Kopecky it seems like he's mostly alright.
I don't remember a Red Wing being down that long since Jiri Fischer. Obviously that was worse but this was a scary sight.
Goddamn, it looks like the Wings willed that puck into the net. They were moving the puck really well but the Blues got some blocked shots and Mason was coming up big but Pavs and Hank just stayed with it and banged it in.
I think I'm going to say that was another good period. Striking on the power play, keeping the Blues off the board, both good things.
Late start + not much sleep recently + game closer than it should be = I'm not doing so well right now. Need to close this damn thing out.
Blues doing their typical "It's late in the game and we're about to lose so we might as well act like whiny bitches" thing.
