Hossa Injured Crashing into Boards in St. Louis

Red Wings forward Marian Hossa left the game on a stretcher early in the first period Tuesday.

Hossa was knocked headfirst into the boards by Roman Polak. He pulled his hand to his head immediately and play was blown dead.

Hossa never lost consciousness and waved to the crowd as he was taken off the ice.

FSN Detroit reported that all tests performed after Hossa arrived at the hospital came back negative.

Trip and a dive? Ugh, I hate that call.

I feel that Detroit is obligated to win because I have exams tomorrow and missed the last two games <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.png" />

And Hossa's down. EMS is out there, very bad.

Edit: And I'm gonna call Murphy a dumbass here. That was not a follow-through, the defender reached out after Hossa got rid of the puck.

It's taking awhile. :c

What do you think happened to him? I'm not good at guess-diagnoses.

FSN guys say it's precautionary and he never lost consciousness. Very good to hear.

Osgood with a big stop on the shorthanded two-on-one that never should have happened.

Downey and Jansen(sp?) are in a fight :c Exciting and a very long fight!

I wonder why it's so entertaining to watch people beat each other up?

Call me boring or whatever but that fight didn't need to happen. Looked cool but if we're gonna have planned fights we might as well watch boxing.

Two people hurt on one play! Ay curumba! At least Kopecky's was just a cut.

____

Bedazzling goal by Kopecky <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.png" /> 1-0 Wings.

Great clear on the PK.

Kopy! Elbow that in the head!

Shorthanded, bitches!

Malts also gets a good clear on the PK. Good kill.

Definitely good to know that Big Hoss is relatively okay. Any time he misses is important but if he stayed awake and was talking to Kopecky it seems like he's mostly alright.

I don't remember a Red Wing being down that long since Jiri Fischer. Obviously that was worse but this was a scary sight.

Goddamn, it looks like the Wings willed that puck into the net. They were moving the puck really well but the Blues got some blocked shots and Mason was coming up big but Pavs and Hank just stayed with it and banged it in.

The second goal was really cool, they just batted it in there <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

I think I'm going to say that was another good period. Striking on the power play, keeping the Blues off the board, both good things.

Late start + not much sleep recently + game closer than it should be = I'm not doing so well right now. Need to close this damn thing out.

And there we go, Draper with a really nice tip. Kopy with a great pass.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 3/3/2009 at 10:38 PM

Power play goal! I think that one's Kronwall's.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 3/3/2009 at 10:45 PM

Blues doing their typical "It's late in the game and we're about to lose so we might as well act like whiny bitches" thing.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 3/3/2009 at 10:53 PM

Filppula scores! Kopy with three points, getting the assist.

Ozzie holds on for the shutout. Solid, solid game.

Good ending, compared to the last game.
