The top two teams in the Western Conference meet tonight as the San Jose Sharks visit the Detroit Red Wings. The race is still close enough that a win is important for both teams.
Chris Chelios and Tomas Kopecky will be the healthy scratches for Detroit tonight as Brad Stuart returns to the Red Wings' blueline and Kris Draper takes his spot back on the fourth line rotation.
Ty Conklin gets the start in net.
Much has been made of Claude Lemeiux's return to Joe Louis Arena but I think he's a washed-up has-been so I won't give him more words than that.
The Pistons have been shifted to FSN+ so this one is on standard FSN and FSN-HD.
Wings' power play looked awful until Hossa scored. That was entirely an individual effort, great move on the boards and a lot of luck that it slipped through Nabokov.
"Familiar #32." Uh, Ken, I'd think Wings fans are more familiar with Lemieux wearing the #22 he wore in Denver.
That was a pretty intense first period. The Red Wings were playing pretty tough. Good to see but they'll have to keep it up.
They got some lucky breaks, too. What a goal by Leino!
Both teams look a bit reckless out there. Some excellent bang bang plays by the wings, but it's still choppy. Not that I expected differently.
Very physical. For a little bit there, I was waiting for a ice wide fight. We may still see it. We're in for a nail biter folks!
Wings hold onto the two-goal lead heading into the third. I'm not going to be calm until this game is over. And only then if the Wings can keep this up.
Just watching the clock now. Don't think I've been this nervous for a regular season game in awhile.
How bad was Hossa's injury? ):
I just spent the last 3 hours at Honors Orchestra. Not fun hanging out with a group of stuck-up kids. (Yikes, I just realized how that might sound about me!
)
At least Hossa produced some before he got hurt too, am I right? ![]()
I liked Datsyuk's innocent act. Tip my hat to Boyle, awesome way to lose someone.
Zetterberg gets a goal!

No word.
ESPN's game recap says he didn't play the third for precautionary reasons...for your team and my pool, I hope they are right.

That's what the Detroit postgame said, too. Of course, he could be out several games for "precautionary" reasons at this point. I guess we'll know more Friday.
