An early Merry Christmas (or a happy whatever holiday you may be celebrating) to everyone out there. I figure I'll get that out of the way since I'm unlikely to be posting again until Friday's matchup in Nashville.
I'll keep my thoughts on last night's 4-1 win over St. Louis short.
Brad Stuart wasn't one of the three stars of the game but he could have been. As George Malik pointed out, Stuart registered an assist, two hits, a blocked shot, and one shot in 17:49 of ice time. His strong play jumping up is what allowed Detroit's third goal to happen.
Another unexpected strong play was Marian Hossa's hit on Jeff Woywitka, forcing the first of two turnovers that led to the Wings' fourth goal.
Power play, even strength, shorthanded... The Red Wings were "on" in all situations and it showed. Aside from a few minutes early on, the Blues were never really in the game. The shots seem to show otherwise but they're distorted by the high number of penalties called.
Lidstrom on the five-on-three. What a blast.
Pure stupidity leading to that five-on-three, the hit on Holmstrom would have looked bad but been legal if he hadn't gotten his stick up.
With the Wings up it's kind of cheap to complain but Legace totally dove to get the goalie interference call.
The puck was in but this shouldn't be a goal, Legace was pushed in by Kopy. Not that it made a difference back in the 2007 playoffs.
Hossa knocks the sh*t out of Woywitka to force a turnover and Datsyuk with the crazy deke to make it 4-0. Wow.
Murphy says of Hossa "If he's behind you, you have to remember he's going to catch you."
Makes me think we need to adapt a Chuck Norris Fact:
"If you can see Marian Hossa, he can see you. If you can't see Marian Hossa, you may be only seconds from being scored on."
I'm pretty ticked. The FSN+ channel for my cable isn't carrying the game anymore.
Splendid!
Simply amazing.
They were carrying it and cut away or it never came on?
That blows, I remember having to deal with that with a Columbus game last spring.
Backes tries to start a fight once the game's already over but nothing comes of it, Wings finish off the 4-1 win.

It went off during the second intermission and came back with about three minutes left in the third. At least I didn't miss much ![]()
Happy holidays everyone, cause this is probably the last post I'll make until the next game <3
