Misconduct

Red Wings - Kings Pregame Notes

The Red Wings go into tonight's matchup with the Los Angeles Kings with the same lineup they used to shut out the San Jose Sharks on Thursday.

This means that Ty Conklin gets the start. Chris Osgood once again skipped the morning skate as he attempts to recover from a groin injury.

If Osgood is so hurt that he can't practice, it doesn't seem like he'd even be able to come into a game in relief of Conklin. If Conklin gets hurt, will Osgood actually be able to play? If not, I think the Wings should get creative and dress Derek Meech as the backup. If nothing happens then it doesn't matter, if Conklin gets hurt the Wings are screwed either way, and if Osgood sits for 10 games he can be retroactively put on the IR to get some cap space to call up Jimmy Howard or Daniel Larsson.

No, I don't expect that to happen.

I'm away from a TV for probably at least the first period. Kings score less than two minutes in? WTF?

That was a weird and sloppy period.

I don't know what to say of it.

Tied 2-2, Datsyuk and Lilja with the goals for the Wings. O'Sullivan and someone else for the Kings <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

Got back in time to catch the end of the period.

Sammy scores and Calder ties it right up again. Wings give up the lead in a matter of seconds for the second time tonight.

Penalty on Homer to end the period was lame as all hell.

Ditto. This game is still weird. =/ The Samuelsson goal was neat <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" /> At least Pittsburgh is getting killed by the Leafs right now <3 (5-1)

Kings get a lead three minutes or so into the the third period.

Hudler got stepped around by Stoll, Cleary couldn't get back to cover Brown. Lilja was trying to take away the pass but where the hell was the other defender?

Hudler ties it up with 3:43 left <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

Yay! There's still hope.

Nice, nice play by Fil to get the puck to Huds for the tying goal. He could have easily given up after Quick stopped his initial shot but he stayed with it and made a great pass to Hudler on the open side of the net.

Cleary with the goal? <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

Cleary or Hudler. I don't care though, I'm excited it happened <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

Draper with the empty net!

I don't think Hudler tipped it but that was a hell of a screen.

Draper says, "sh*t, that's a lot easier with no goalie."

Speaking of draper, has he and Maltby been getting penalty kill time? Seems like babcock is playing the top two lines for penalty killing. What happened to Chelios? Anyone know?
