Aside from the first five to ten minutes, this might have been the Red Wings' strongest game of the season.
Their defense (again, aside from the start) was rock solid and Chris Osgood made the stops he had to.
It would have been nice to see more pucks behind Jean-Sebastien Giguere and Jonas Hiller but the shots were there and that's a start.
Ken and Mickey mentioned it but the breakout passes started getting too cute late in the third. There were also a lot of wasted shots, so it's not as though there aren't still things to work on, but this was definitely a step forward if the Red Wings can build on it.

Vastly outshooting the Ducks, but hardly any of those shots are coming from in the slot. And without Holmstrom, the shots from the point just seem too easy for Giguere.

Ducks were very tired after playing last night, it showed. Wings played a good game but still could've lost it easily. Score was closer than it should've been, still got the win though. Cleary is focused, good to have him back after injury. Holmstrom and Chelios are coming back soon, Chelios thinking of going to Griffins for a few? Howe did play one game for the Vipers in the 90's so I don't think Chelios would be oldest to play.
The Vipers were IHL which folded and some teams merged to the AHL...Chelli would still be oldest in the AHL.
