Misconduct

Red Wings - Ducks Postgame Thoughts

Aside from the first five to ten minutes, this might have been the Red Wings' strongest game of the season.

Their defense (again, aside from the start) was rock solid and Chris Osgood made the stops he had to.

It would have been nice to see more pucks behind Jean-Sebastien Giguere and Jonas Hiller but the shots were there and that's a start.

Ken and Mickey mentioned it but the breakout passes started getting too cute late in the third. There were also a lot of wasted shots, so it's not as though there aren't still things to work on, but this was definitely a step forward if the Red Wings can build on it.

You're f*cking kidding me. Saturday Kronner gets stripped of the puck in the corner, tonight Stuart loses it behind the net.

Jesus, the Wings just had some glorious chances. They've gotta convert on those. At least they get the PP now.

Moen with the cheap shot to end the period. Surprise.

After Huds hit the post, I was sure the Ducks would score before the end of the period.

Vastly outshooting the Ducks, but hardly any of those shots are coming from in the slot. And without Holmstrom, the shots from the point just seem too easy for Giguere.

Tied up, bitches. That had to have been tipped, finally a shot with traffic in front.

Franzen with the tip?

Yep, that's J.M.F. Franzen making an appearance.

Finally! Franzen strikes again!

By the radio, it sounds like the Wings have been all over the quacks this period.

Uhm, why did the goalies get switched? =/ Giguere was doing a fine job in my opinion. >.>

Giguere out because of "dehydration." Fine by me so far. <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

Knew the cheap call on the Wings was coming ever since they pulled ahead.

Thank you, Chrissy. <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

Lame call though.

Edit: On replay, not so lame.

Ducks are turning it back on. I'm holding my breath more than I should.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 12/1/2008 at 9:49 PM

Is it my connection here or is anyone else getting their log-in bumped?

Anywho, I go to see the Wings in Dallas this Friday and the following weekend, I might go up to Oklahoma City to catch a few CHL games.

Fingers crossed, fighting the urge to close my eyes for 63 seconds.

And the Wings hold on to win!

Posted by YzerFan19 on 12/1/2008 at 10:00 PM

Ducks were very tired after playing last night, it showed. Wings played a good game but still could've lost it easily. Score was closer than it should've been, still got the win though. Cleary is focused, good to have him back after injury. Holmstrom and Chelios are coming back soon, Chelios thinking of going to Griffins for a few? Howe did play one game for the Vipers in the 90's so I don't think Chelios would be oldest to play.

The Vipers were IHL which folded and some teams merged to the AHL...Chelli would still be oldest in the AHL.
