Misconduct

Red Wings - Canadiens Game Notes

Maybe I'm just feeling optimistic this morning but I don't count last night's loss to Montreal as being too bad of a loss to take.

The Red Wings didn't do a lot that was outright wrong. They got outplayed in what was mostly an energy issue, not a talent issue. They weren't as effective in the corners as they needed to be and it cost them scoring chances.

The first and third Montreal goals were almost entirely luck. Yeah, if you feel like goalie-bashing you can say Conklin should have been more careful on the first goal but on a night where the whole team was a little slow I don't think he should be singled out.

Montreal's second goal? A thing of beauty. The Wings probably should have been able to clear the zone so while a defensive lapse was a part of it, you can't discount the really nice play by the Canadiens.

Unfortunately you can't count the Wings' lone goal as an example of good team play, that was just a huge individual efford by Johan Franzen.

In all, I don't think we can look at this game and start screaming it's the end of the world. How the team responds will be key, though.

It will be interesting to see how that line up pans out. As always I am looking forward to tonights matchup because there is a lot of history between the Habs and the Wings.

I love watching O6 matchups because there has been some great hockey played during the O6 matchup this season and I hope it continues. The last game between Boston and the Habs was one of the best I have seen in quite some time. On that note the Habs are going to come out strong this evening because they are hurting for a W. The D better be ready!

I still like the thought of Hossa+Dr. Fil+Dats= The MVP line!

I can't wait for the game tonight! <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" /> Montreal is probably my tied-for-second favourite team! <3 And plus, you can't beat Darren Helm playing with Dr. Fil, either!

Haha, that was probably of no importance to you guys. <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

I hope they kick some French-Canadian assets!

What I hope gets accomplished besides winning -

Keeping Lazy Lang goalless. <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

Couldn't watch the last three games, so looking forward to this one.

Wings PK looked good there, even got some time in the Montreal end.

Conklin looks better positionally tonight, not bouncing around so much.

Nice stop by Lebda

Just realized I'm watching the same game as you guys (and gal) for a change.

FSN Detroit is blacked out over here so I am stuck with TSN.

Ready to kill Pierre MacGuire yet? He is so bad!!! Repeats five lines all night long...I'm still looking for the pull string in his back.

He does the same thing on NBC. Ugh.

If you're trying to take advantage of a goalie without his stick, you might want to shoot more than once. And try the stick side.

And Conklin gives up a real bad one.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 11/26/2008 at 8:38 PM

That was a stinker...The Habs have been stinkers too, so I guess we'll take it!

Someone at Center Ice needs to have their ass kicked! I should be able to choose who I want to listen to! I'll take Ken and Mickey any day!

Is Kronner now in the rotation for the "A", or was that previous game a one time thing?

Posted by SYfanSD on 11/26/2008 at 8:46 PM

What the hell was that?

Posted by SYfanSD on 11/26/2008 at 8:47 PM

Call on Hamrlik is pretty weak but he deserves one for the sh*t he did in the corner after that.

He wore it in the preseason in Toronto (among other places, perhaps).http://www.detroitho...s_his_stick.php

Bullsh*t. Kopy got rocked from behind, no call. Hossa comes in and knocks that guy down, called.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 11/26/2008 at 8:51 PM

That was bullsh*t!

Posted by SYfanSD on 11/26/2008 at 8:51 PM

And they score on it. Great play but never should have happened.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 11/26/2008 at 8:52 PM

What the Hell? Where was Nick on that one? He could have blocked that!

Posted by SYfanSD on 11/26/2008 at 8:53 PM

Stupid call, and punished for it with a power play goal.

Posted by Britishwingsfan on 11/26/2008 at 8:53 PM

Jesus Christ, what a bad break.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 11/26/2008 at 8:54 PM

Sheesh...Surprising performances so far...lots of time left though.

Posted by Stormo on 11/26/2008 at 8:54 PM

We're f*cked! Babcock calls a timeout and hopefully he is coming off the top rope on the D!

Looks like too many of the Wings stayed at the bar a little late last night!

Calm down, still lots of time. Can't say I'm feeling good, though.

I'm amazed Babs didn't pull Conklin after the third goal.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 11/26/2008 at 8:59 PM

Call delay of game on Hamrlik if you're gonna call it on Kopy.

Call on Montreal was awful. This game sucks in general.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 11/26/2008 at 9:07 PM

When was thast time we were scoreless going into the third?

Posted by SYfanSD on 11/26/2008 at 9:07 PM

Anyone else see that instead of Score-O during the second intermission they're bowling with turkeys? I want FSN to cut back to that, it has to be more entertaining than the rest of this.

The turkey bowling was pretty cool looking, but I'm quite entertained...just a matter of perspective I guess. Still time to be humbled.

Very true. On another note; it looks like NHL.com will have to come up with another commercial since Tampa Bay fired Melrose. The Staal and Eddie O commercials are getting really old.

Habs deflecting Wings shots away all over the place. At the other end, Wings deflect Montreal shots into their own net. Just that kind of night.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 11/26/2008 at 9:42 PM

J.M.F. Franzen shows up and says "f*ck this shutout bullsh*t."

Posted by YzerFan19 on 11/26/2008 at 9:46 PM

Franzen should win that stupid text-play-of-the-game thing.

I'm so happy he gets more ice time. Cool goal. <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

Or did I Breath too soon? - Damn...right call though...back to holding my breath

Posted by Stormo on 11/26/2008 at 9:55 PM

That didn't go in.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 11/26/2008 at 9:55 PM

f*ck it!

The only thing I have to say to all of the Habs fans in the house is to put those damn 1993 Coupe De Stanley banners away! That is approaching two decades ago! Live in the now!

Posted by SYfanSD on 11/26/2008 at 9:56 PM

How did the ref point so emphatically? Replay shows it never crossed the line. What the hell was he looking at?
