I'm opening up the gameday thread right now without a lot of news. I've been all kinds of busy lately so I don't have any special insight into the game or anything.
A reminder that the banner-raising ceremony is at 7:00 with the game following. Versus has the TV coverage for the US, CBC has it in Canada, both are in HD where available.
I'll be at the game but will try to post my thoughts during breaks and hope to have some really cool photos to add to the site tomorrow.
We're at the Joe now with our spot on the wall claimed. Division, conference and President's Trophy banners are already up (which they always do).
The excitement's building up now in the Joe (sorry, I just had to pretend for a moment).
But seriously, the drought's nearly over, and it's getting really exciting. But I thought all day that the game was starting at 8pm ET because of your schedule Clark. I was sure I saw that start time somewhere else as well though. Oh well, at least I didn't check it when it was too late.
Looks like I'm completely on my own here. Hmm.
Maltby back from being struck by the puck in the first period.
"I'm not dead yet! Really, I'll be fine tomorrow"
Had clogging class, saw the second Toronto goal and Homer's. I think the Eurotwins should make a reunion tour?
If y'know what I mean.
You ruined my streak! Only joking.
They just need some sustained pressure, there hasn't really been much of that so far.
And just as I say that, bang! 3-1. Damn.
Yeah! Holmstrom again! 3-2.
Haha, I just thought of 'If you're into stalking, facebook is the right place for you.'
Go Homer! <3 I'm not going to say anything involving three goals because I might curse him =/
That's sad.
Oh well.
It looked like they just got outplayed? It's good to see Toronto not suck anymore.
Leafs looked like they were playing with urgency, Wings just look slow all night and made many mistakes. That being said, wings made it close, Toronto played their A game which to me looks impossible to keep up for 82 games. Its only game 1, big celebration after they won. Don't know what to make of it. Anyways, chemistry isn't there yet even though 90% of the players from last year are together ahaha.
Leafs are actually a crappier team than last year, just with a new coach and the TRAP!
When you don't have the talent you establish a playing style like this to clog up the neutral zone and prevent
any kind of flow whatsoever. Sad that the leafs had to ruin the Wings banner night.
This is an awesome panoramic at the Detroit News of the banner being raised at the Wings' opener last night. Use your mouse to scroll around. Very cool. It even goes fullscreen!
I was way at the other end in what would have been a perfect spot if not for the two 6'8" guys in front of me. I'm 6'1", I'm not used to not being able to see, and of course that would happen on that night.
My quick thoughts since I'm still swamped at work and don't have time to make a proper post... The Wings played like crap through the first half of the game. Their passes were way off the mark and they were afraid to hit.
On a programming note... Apologies for the wrong time on the schedule, the game was moved up and I didn't update the site. Also, I'll be getting my photos (if any turned out) loaded onto the site later tonight.
At least your pictures turned out nice! + The Dr. Fil and Datsyuk picture and the other with the team and the banner turned out the best, methinks. ![]()
I would offer some wisdom out of the stuff I learned from watching the CBC, but I wasn't really paying attention to the commentary yesterday (didn't seem as good as the usually commentary, either). I was happy for Homer though, it was lucky to get both goals!
Definitely some shots there, Clark. The banner shot is your best, though. When I was watching the celebration of the Cup coming in...that was like a slow-mo train wreck...
The Cup going upside down...
