Another night where I don't feel like doing a game recap. With a game tomorrow, I'll get a chance to make up for it pretty quick.
Instead, a rant about Dominik Hasek.
Four goals against isn't unheard of and normally wouldn't be cause for concern except for the fact that Hasek is expected to single-handedly win games. Four goals is unacceptable.
Three of those four goals (the three shorthanded goals) were one-on-one. Hasek has to make those stops.
Now, in mid-November it's easy to call a game unimportant. Maybe in June we'll all be singing Hasek's praises again, and I hope so. But the Red Wings need consistancy in net to get to the postseason and right now Chris Osgood provides more of that.
Hasek is the big name but Osgood is the one playing big. We have a goaltending controversy whether the Red Wings acknowledge it or not.
Ansar Khan just posted that Hasek will get the start tomorrow. Osgood has the flu.
Does that announcement mean that Osgood had been slated to start? More fuel to the goalie controversy fire.
This goalie controversy has the potential to end up like the Joseph-Legace-Hasek deal, at this point I really don't care who the number one guy is as long as he is solid.
Right now Ozzie is looking like he did during the cup run in 98. Goaltending has been our biggest downfall as of late and if we are going to have issues it is better to get it over with well before the post season.
I agree with Clark, something is definately going on. Will continue to follow the situtation
Well just as I was going to make a point about Hasek being rock solid after being pulled out of a game, he proves me wrong and lets in a shorty.
UGGGH! Come on Dom get it together! ![]()
Interesting note:
Cheli is not in but is expected tomorrow night.
Osgood is scheduled to start tomorrow and is starting to get hungry.
DRAPES!!!!
From the other room, catmandu says "Draper scored?!"
Mickey said Draper however, Ken said Rafalski.
Which makes more sense, anyway, everyone knows Draper can't finish. ![]()
I can't believe the 'Hawks haven't been forced to take a penalty yet this period.
And just as I say that, too many men on the ice.
Wings are insanely outplaying the 'Hawks but Dom can't make a save for his life.
And Dom usually has a big game after being pulled
Daniels just said "assistant captain" again. How hard is it to remember that it's "alternate" not "assistant"?

There are lots of words that start with "A" that aren't right. ![]()
Some bad breaks for the Wings. Some defensive lapses too. DOM's goals against average isn't doing well either. 4 goals on 16-17 shots, 3 short-handed goals by the Hawks ??... that's a new club records against Detroit. The Black Hawks are by no means push overs. They were out played for large chunks of the game, down by a goal at one point, but still found a way to win. Five goals scored by two Hawks -- Borgue and Sharp. Bright spots in the WINGS play were CLEARY, HUDLER and FILPPULA. The WINGS D were big-time negatives tonight -- even LIDSTROM had a bad night.
