Misconduct

Franzen Out 3-4 Weeks

Turns out that Johan Franzen's injury is more serious than he thought. Bruce MacLeod blogged today that Franzen will be out 3-4 weeks with an MCL sprain.

Aaron Downey or Matt Ellis will fill Franzen's spot in the lineup but will likely join the third or fourth line. Kris Draper, Dan Cleary or Valtteri Filppula will be bumped up to Franzen's spot.

My guess is that Babcock will want to give Filppula the ice time but since he's not quite as gritty as Franzen, Cleary might fit the role better.

Let's hook Lang up!

Daniels did one of my pet peeves in the pre-game, mentioned Hasek wearing #39 in Chicago. Only problem: He didn't.

Drake with another fight! Didn't even try to take off the the helmet this time. <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/rock.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":therock:" border="0" alt="rock.gif" />

Raffy with the blast from the top of the left circle! First goal as a Red Wing!

Hawks are really pushing, Wings look outmatched for the most part. Kinda scary.

And Nick makes it 2-0!

Lang beaten on the draw by Zetterberg. Nice that he's not pulling a Bertuzzi on us.

Could see that Chicago goal coming, Wings are still getting caught flat-footed.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 10/6/2007 at 9:52 PM

And Homer makes it 3-1!

Side note: Dats looks good with that A

Posted by SYfanSD on 10/6/2007 at 9:55 PM

Huge goal by Holmstrom, regaining the two-goal lead.

Ahhh, how I missed Ken and Mickey over the summer

Posted by SYfanSD on 10/6/2007 at 9:59 PM

What was that on Hasek? Where was the call? Damn refs! <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/rock.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":therock:" border="0" alt="rock.gif" /> <img src="http://forums.detroithockey.net/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.png" />

'Hawks outshot the Wings 11-6 in the second. Not good to see. Also not good, Franzen's injury.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 10/6/2007 at 10:14 PM

Any word on what it is?

Posted by SYfanSD on 10/6/2007 at 10:16 PM

I haven't heard them say anything and nothing's come across my feed reader yet. I'd imagine something with his knee, maybe a sprain since he could put pressure on it but still looked to be in pain.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 10/6/2007 at 10:19 PM

Probably be out for a game or two

Posted by SYfanSD on 10/6/2007 at 10:22 PM

Franzen will not return tonight, have not heard anything else

Posted by SYfanSD on 10/6/2007 at 10:26 PM

Awful, awful whistle.

"I lost sight of the puck. In the middle of an empty crease."

Posted by YzerFan19 on 10/6/2007 at 10:28 PM

Bad call there!

Posted by SYfanSD on 10/6/2007 at 10:29 PM

I lost sight of the puck as it went past Hasek, why didn't they blow the whistle?

Posted by YzerFan19 on 10/6/2007 at 10:33 PM

Another game that is being decided by the refs

Posted by SYfanSD on 10/6/2007 at 10:44 PM

I wouldn't go that far (yet), just a really bad call.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 10/6/2007 at 10:46 PM

Goddamnit, Lang.

Wow, that sounds familiar.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 10/6/2007 at 10:54 PM

FYI, they're calling Franzen's injury a charley horse right now.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 10/6/2007 at 10:58 PM

Oh hell overtime again

Posted by SYfanSD on 10/6/2007 at 10:59 PM

And the Wings win, 4-3... Oh, yeah, that goal didn't count. Forgot about that.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 10/6/2007 at 10:59 PM

Khabibulin just came up huge, Lidstrom had all day.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 10/6/2007 at 11:03 PM

Huge stop by Dom on the wraparound chance!

Posted by YzerFan19 on 10/6/2007 at 11:06 PM

Another shootout. This is gonna be a long season.

Williams and Lang as shooters for Chicago? Ken and Mickey think so, we'll see.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 10/6/2007 at 11:08 PM

How big is the ref's quick whistle now? That said, they always say that if you were in a position for the refs to decide it, you didn't do good enough.

Posted by YzerFan19 on 10/6/2007 at 11:14 PM

That was garbage

Poor Pavel, he was robbed I tell you, ROBBED! And for once, THIS IS NOT A BIASED STATEMENT!!!!!

Posted by Mathieu_Datsyuk132351 on 10/7/2007 at 2:00 PM

Clearly would be a good choice. His heart combined with his gritness will equal goals for the Wings!

Drake's fight from this game has been added to the Multimedia Library...
