The Detroit News has a recap of last night's mess in San Jose so I'm not going to bother with it today.
This marks two games - and two nights - in a row where the Wings have seemingly forgotten to show up.
It's easy to look at the scoresheet and say "Oh, San Jose scored all their goals on the power play so Detroit must have played will at even strength." For the most part, that's true. The problem is that they took half a game's worth of penalties, that leads to a lot of power play goals for the opponent.
The Red Wings played a horribly undiciplined game. They took bad penalties and then blew defensive assignments. That can't continue.
Hopefully we found our powerplay on the plane ride. D you need to light the lamp!!!!
Just as I was about to say that the Wings were looking solid, the Sharks get a PP goal on a bit of a lucky bounce. Let's see if it can get evened up on the Detroit power play here.

Hung out to dry on the first two, the third he was screened on but could have gotten. No help at all.
I'm debating turning it off right now, another night where it's not worth it to stay up late if the Wings aren't gonna come to play.

WTF? I thought the officials now had the ability to say that a player didn't intend to put it over the glass so it wasn't a penalty.
I think that one of the biggest gripes about the NHL this year is going to be the officiating. The last two games have been horrible for the Wings with penaltys. It's almost like the league is out to get them.
To be fair (me saying that? wow), the Wings haven't been all that disciplined in their play. I actually mentioned that in my blog post for today (which was short, because I wasn't going to put much effort in if the Wings weren't going to, either).
I so can not believe it. how the hell do we lose 5 to 1. 5 TO 1!!!!! Im so p*ssed right now. Last year we were ranked 1. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN!!! GET RID OF HASEK AND OSGOOD HOLLAND!!!!!!!!!! What a sucky game.

Well, at least the Tigers are in the World Series!!! Thats going to be the only attention detroit going to have all year.
I am hoping this is just the early season blues. However looking at history, every great dynasty has fallen. Hopefully now is not our time
